Prestbury Pool Heater Update

POOL TEMPERATURE UPDATE

Dear Prestbury Residents,

The Prestbury Citizens Association Board of Directors would like to provide an update regarding the pool heater and pool temperature concerns.

Chicagoland Pool has coordinated with a qualified contractor to inspect the pool heater system. During the inspection, the contractor identified an excessive accumulation of combustion byproducts within a critical component of the Raypak heater system. This buildup restricted the heater’s ability to operate efficiently and contributed to deterioration of certain internal wiring components.

The contractor explained that this condition would not have been identified during routine annual maintenance, as the heating element had to be removed in order to access and discover the issue. This level of inspection goes beyond the scope of normal seasonal maintenance and was only identified after the heater was disassembled for further evaluation.

To restore the heater to proper operating condition, the affected wiring components are being replaced and the impacted mechanical components are being cleaned and repaired. Prestbury Citizens Association is working closely with Chicagoland Pool and qualified technicians to complete these repairs and return the heater to full operating capacity as quickly as possible. Once repairs are completed, the heater will be tested to verify that it is operating as intended.

Because commercial pool heaters are specialized mechanical systems and do not fall under the scope of traditional residential or commercial HVAC service, the Association has been coordinating with multiple qualified mechanical contractors and pool-heating specialists to diagnose the issue and identify the most effective repair solution. While this has required consultation with specialized vendors, the Association is working diligently to ensure repairs are completed as efficiently as possible.

The current heater was installed in 2020 and is actively being evaluated to ensure all necessary repairs are completed appropriately. We understand the frustration that many residents have experienced regarding the pool temperature and recognize that the pool is one of Prestbury’s most valued amenities.

Please know that the Association, Board , Management, Chicagoland Pool, and the contractors involved are actively working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Our goal is to ensure that the root cause of the problem is properly identified and corrected so that the pool can operate as intended for the remainder of the season.
