Marty Swanson
Aurie Davy

Restocking Program
Steve Keierleber opened the meeting by explaining that as of the date of the meeting he estimates that there are about 100 surviving bass in the lake from the initial restocking effort. In addition, Steve and Tom and others have added about 39 bass. These bass have primarily come from Waubonsee Lake and three from Beta Lake. Also, approximately 90 to 100 large bluegills have been added to Lake Prestbury, all from Waubonsee Lake.

After some discussion regarding the replacement fish due from Richmond Fisheries in Richmond, Illinois and the amount of monies in the Prestbury Fishing Club treasury it was decided to order the following additional fish.
* Approximately 100 8"-10" large mouth bass (as credit replacements for those that died from the initial delivery)
* 20,000 minnows for approximately $400
* 100 5"-7" bluegills for approximately $130
* 30 14" catfish for approximately $100

It was decided that crappies would be added in the fall or in the spring of 2001 if additional funds can be raised.

Aerators
Marty Swanson explained the work he had done to evaluate the aerators that would be needed to restore the lake to a healthy condition. Several days ago he had Mr. Mike Schiazzan out to examine Lake Prestbury and make a recommendation regarding aerators. Mr. Schiazzan commented to Marty that in his professional opinion "the lake was still in pretty bad shape". He said it will require considerable year round aeration and more than a year to bring Lake Prestbury back to a healthy condition. Mr. Schiazzan will be contacted again by Marty Swanson to arrange for a presentation and specific aerator recommendation to Mr. Ed Powers of the PCA Board.

It was also suggested that the Prestbury Board be requested to supply matching funds to the collected $2,692 Prestbury Fishing Club contribution fund.

DNR
Tom Dornback reported that he had contacted Ms. Pat Lindner's office (state representative for this district) regarding assistance from the State of Illinois to restore the Lake. We were provided with paperwork from the DNR to have the local DNR representative (Mr. Harvey Brown, the State fisheries biologist for Kane County) to perform some testing. Steve said he would fill out the form and send it in to the DNR.

Recent Fish Catches
Steve Keierleber and Tom Dornback reported that since the last meeting they have caught several bass (about 15) in Lake Prestbury. Most were caught near the shoreline. Some looked healthy and some had small red spots on various parts of their body.

It is suggested that all bullheads and carp that are caught in Lake Prestbury be placed in the retention pond downstream from the lake.
