Prestbury
Fishing Club
The September meeting of the Prestbury fishing club was held on
Monday 30
September 2002 at 21 East Windsor Court.
In attendance were George Hauser, President, Aurie Davy, Tom Dornback,
Marv
Doty, and Bob Bruss and Matt Jablonski.
George Hauser asked who would be available to pick up fish that were
purchased from the county for restocking of two of the Prestbury lakes.
George Hauser, Marv Doty, Steve Keierleber, and Tom Dornback agreed to
meet
at or before 7:00am on October 12 at the Kane County fairgrounds for the
pickup. Matt Jablonski will meet the group at Blackberry Lake for some
of
the fish to be stocked in that lake. Others will meet at Prestbury Lake
to
release the new fish.
Marv Doty suggested that the fish be released away from the shore, in
boats
where possible, to avoid shore birds from getting at the smaller fish.
Tom
Dornback and Steve Keierleber will have boats ready at Lake Prestbury.
The fish were ordered from the funds raised from donations and the May
2002
Prestbury garage sale.
The fish ordered for the fall restocking included:
300 5" - 8" largemouth bass
40 lbs of minnows
250 5" - 7" bluegills
500 1" - 2" sunfish
After the fish are released on the morning of October 12 Tom Dornback
suggested that we have a Carp Catch to remove as many carp as possible
from
Lake Prestbury. Everyone is invited to join in this effort. It is a
lot of
fun and good for the lake.
George Hauser reported that Ed Powers (PCA board member) contacted him
and
discussed the possibility of a fish survey being done on Lake Prestbury.
George told Ed Powers that the Prestbury Fishing Club was generally in
favor
of such a survey and would help where possible.
Tom Dornback raised the issue of the club making a new proposal to the
PCA
board for a "summer-only aerator" in the center of Lake Prestbury.
George
Hauser said he would draft such a proposal.
Tom Dornback also suggested that members of the club and other Prestbury
residents make an effort to clean up the shore line to remove trash
before the first freeze. Everyone present agreed that there is a need
for
another lake cleanup effort. Residents of Prestbury are asked to pick
up
any papers, plastic, bottles and cans that may enter the Prestbury
lakes.
All residents that fish either Prestbury lake are asked not to return
carp
or bullheads to the lake. All other fish are catch-and-release.
The next meeting of the PFC is tentatively scheduled for 28 October at
21
East Windsor Court at 7pm.
All Prestbury residents interested in joining the Prestbury fishing club
are
welcome. Please call George Hauser, Tom Dornback, Marv Doty, or Steve
Keierleber for more information.
