Prestbury Fishing Club Prestbury Fishing Club Minutes May 6, 2002 Meeting
6 May 2002 Meeting The Prestbury Fishing Club (PFC) is open to all Prestbury residents with a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of recreational fishing on our Prestbury community lakes. If any Prestbury resident is interested in joining the PFC, or would like more information about our planned programs and activities, contact: * George Hauser, President, at 466-1287, or hauser@prestbury.org * Tom Dornback, Secretary/Treasurer, at 466-0602, or tdornback@oalb.com In Attendance at July 2 Meeting George Hauser Matt Jablonski Bob Bruss Steve Keierleber Tom Dornback Aurie Davy Garage Sale It is planned that the PFC would participate in the Prestbury Garage Sale scheduled for 18 May 2002. The club will have tables set up at 16 Cedar Gate Circle and at 37 Cedar Gate Circle. A bake sale and a hot dog stand will also be at the above sites. The club is seeking donations from the community of unwanted items that can be offered for sale at the Garage Sale. Marv Doty has volunteered to prepare a flyer seeking donations from the community, and especially from those families that would like to move some items out of their garage and basement, but do not want to participate in the garage sale. All donated items should be brought to either 16 Cedar Gate Circle and at 37 Cedar Gate Circle on Thursday May 16, or Friday May 17, in the evening. All proceeds from the Garage Sale will be used for the Prestbury and Blackberry Lake Restocking Program. Lake shoreline clean up The annual lake shoreline cleanup was done on Saturday May 4. Thank you to the five people who participated in this effort by boat and from shore. Adding brush structure to Lake Prestbury Steve Keierleber and Tom Dornback reported that they had added six small brush stacks to Lake Prestbury. All were put into deep water in the south east corner of the lake, away from all sailing areas. They were all placed about 3 – 5 feet below the surface. All brush stacks were tied and weighted with cinder blocks. Licensing The issue of possibly licensing Prestbury residents for fishing in the two lakes was discussed. There was not complete agreement, and it was generally decided to hold off making a recommendation to the PCA board on this issue until it becomes more of a problem. George Hauser is going to attend the next PCA board meeting to participate in a discussion about this issue. Fishing Report Steve Keierleber and Tom Dornback reported that they have already caught (and released) about 50 of the new bass that were put into Lake Prestbury in late March. All appeared to be doing well and were very healthy. Several large bass were also caught (12" – 15"), as well as about five of the new catfish. The larger bass had some stress marks and were clearly from last years stocking program. All fish were caught using nightcrawlers. Most were caught very close to shore. It is suggested that all bullheads and carp that are caught in Lake Prestbury be placed in the retention pond downstream from the lake. Donations The club would like to thank the following people who recently donated to the restocking effort of the Prestbury and Blackberry Lake.
Next Meeting The next meeting of the Prestbury Fishing Club will be held on 3 June 2002 at 21 East Windsor Court, in Turtle Cove. All interested Prestbury residents are invited to come and join the meeting.
